Screening for Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Philology and Codicology Cathexis Studies (JPCCS) is committed to publishing original scholarly work and maintaining the integrity of the academic record.

All manuscripts submitted to JPCCS are subject to originality and similarity screening as part of the editorial evaluation process.

Screening Process

Manuscripts are checked using [INSERT THE ACTUAL SOFTWARE USED BY JPCCS — e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate] before publication.

The similarity report is evaluated by the editorial team in context.

JPCCS does not determine plagiarism solely on the basis of a numerical similarity percentage. Editors consider:

• the source and nature of textual overlap;
• whether quotations are appropriately marked;
• whether sources are properly cited;
• whether overlap concerns common terminology or methods;
• whether substantial unattributed copying has occurred;
• duplicate or redundant publication; and
• inappropriate reuse of previously published material.

Types of Unacceptable Practice

Unacceptable practices include:

• direct plagiarism;
• mosaic plagiarism;
• inappropriate paraphrasing;
• unattributed translation;
• duplicate publication;
• substantial self-plagiarism or text recycling without appropriate disclosure;
• plagiarism of ideas, arguments, data, images, or tables; and
• inappropriate manipulation of citations or sources.

Editorial Action

If plagiarism or substantial unethical overlap is identified before publication, the manuscript may be:

• returned for clarification or correction;
• rejected; or
• investigated further.

If plagiarism is identified after publication, JPCCS may issue:

• a correction;
• an expression of concern; or
• a retraction,

depending on the seriousness of the case.
