Archiving
Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
Journal of Philology and Codicology Cathexis Studies (JPCCS) is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, integrity, and preservation of its published scholarly content.
Digital preservation is important to protect the scholarly record from:
- hardware failure;
- software failure;
- data corruption;
- accidental deletion;
- technological obsolescence;
- cyber incidents;
- discontinuation of the journal platform.
Local and Server Backups
The journal should maintain regular backups of:
- journal databases;
- article files;
- issue files;
- supplementary materials;
- journal metadata;
- editorial records.
Backup copies should be maintained separately from the primary production server whenever possible.
Long-Term Preservation
JPCCS supports participation in recognized digital preservation systems appropriate for OJS journals.
When the journal is formally participating in a service such as PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico, or another recognized preservation system, the service should be named explicitly on this page.
Do not claim participation before activation is confirmed.
Repository Preservation
Authors are permitted and encouraged to archive published articles in:
- institutional repositories;
- university repositories;
- subject repositories;
- personal scholarly websites;
- other legitimate preservation services.
Metadata Preservation
JPCCS seeks to preserve article metadata alongside full-text content to support long-term discoverability.
Relevant metadata may include:
- article title;
- author information;
- abstract;
- keywords;
- publication date;
- DOI;
- issue information;
- copyright and licensing information.
Publisher Continuity
In the event that JPCCS ceases publication, reasonable efforts will be made to maintain continued access to previously published content through the publisher's archive, repositories, or recognized preservation services.
